Amena Kamel is a writer, producer, director, composer and actress who loves telling stories across multiple genres, with a soft spot for fantasy, Sci-Fi and satire. As a Persian-Egyptian-American woman, she often draws inspiration from SWANA/AAPI lore. Amena writes Film, TV, and comics.
Amena is the founder of Camera Ready Productions, a production company that focuses on the creation, Transmedia, and packaging of intellectual property suitable for Film and Television. Currently, she is developing a live-action feature film with PlayStation Studios based on their game IP. Amena is also Executive Producer on a sports biopic feature film with Anvil Pictures (Dean DeBlois’ production company) written by Jay S. Arnold (THE KISSING BOOTH 2 & 3 co-writer) with Vince Marcello (THE KISSING BOOTH franchise) attached as director. As a graphic novelist, Amena has her debut graphic novel titled MY YEAR AS EMMA with Dark Horse, loosely based on her true story. She also has a comic story in a STARDUST anthology series based on golden age comic book creator Fletcher Hanks.
Amena studied film at USC and ASU Herberger, where she interned at the Cannes Film Festival and her short film THE REVOLUTION premiered at the Cannes Short Film Corner. Holding a Juris Doctorate from ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, she specialized in IP Law. Being a young licensed attorney, Amena is also co-founder, producer, and co-host of ASU Law’s Academy for Justice podcast Measured Justice. Amena began her career in music, dance and theatre. When she’s not busy writing, she trains as a mezzo soprano opera singer under the tutelage of tenor Gioacchino Livigni and studies improv at The Groundlings.
